I am Letizia Maulà, an Italian clarinetist from Northern Italy (Bergamo), living in Rotterdam since 2015.
Over the years, I've joyfully performed the clarinet in various orchestras and chamber ensembles across Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium.
Beyond traditional concert halls, I've brought my music to esteemed institutional venues, including the European Parliament's Citizens' Garden concert series in 2022 and 2025, and the Royal Palace in The Hague in 2015 and 2024. In 2025, on Italian Liberation Day (April 25th), I gave a solo concert in Genoa in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
Central to my identity is connecting people, values, and places, aligning with my vision for a more equitable world. My pursuits as a musician and activist are intricately intertwined with themes of feminism and memory.
Through my projects, I strive to uncover and perform the forgotten voices of composers who shaped society but were silenced by history—often because they were women or persecuted artists.
As a musician, I am passionate about linking the past with the present and the future. I love creating programs marrying forgotten composers and well-known classical repertoire, using innovative arrangements and flexible instrumentation.
I firmly believe that our contributions to the society remain influential, even when we're not actively involved, which is why I'm committed to being part of it. I want to fight for a fairer future, particularly for gender equality.
Children, professionals, beginners, ensembles: you name it, I teach them.
